The Talent Show

Every Wednesday night, there is a talent show at Maranatha.  Audrey decided she was going to sing, and she did a great job singing "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid.  Trey wanted to participate as well.  We hadn't brought his piano books, and singing isn't his thing, so we had to think.  We decided that Trey would exhibit his geography skills.  You see, over the summer, this little seven-year-old MEMORIZED the globe.  People named a country, and he told all the bordering countries.  It impressed the judges and the audience.  Trey came in second place, behind a nine-year-old gymnast who trains 25 hours a week :)

 

Maranatha (Part one...)

We've been going to Maranatha since I was three years old.  It's great to now see my kids loving it as much as I did. 

 

A highlight of the trip for Trey was going fishing with his Boppa and big cousins.

The Tooth Fairy has (FINALLY) Visited!

This week the Tooth Fairy visited our house for the first time.  And it was for Audrey!  Trey still hasn't lost any teeth, and technically, Audrey's didn't fall out, they had to be pulled out.  I noticed that her permanent teeth were growing up behind her baby teeth, so off to the dentist we went, and Audrey is THRILLED with the whole in her mouth (and the 2 gold dollar coins she got :)

 

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Tonight, Trey said to me, "Mom, you can kiss me as much as you want, even when I'm 20.  I just don't like if you do it in front of my friends."

Suburban Campers

A camper I am not.  Never have been.  Never want to be.  HOWEVER, Dante asked for a tent for Father's Day.  Funny thing is, the one he asked for was a 4-person tent.  I asked why he wanted a 4-person tent and not one that would fit our family.  His response?  "Your not going to go in it, are you?"  Oh.  Well, the tent did in fact get used a few nights this summer.  At the dunes you ask?  Nope.  A lovely state park?  Nope.  The backyard you ask?  No sir!  The kids tented it in the family room.  Now THAT is my kind of camping!

Little Fishies

 

Throughout the summer of 2010, Belle was terrified of the water.  She wouldn't go in without her feet touching the ground, and rarely at all with the water past her knees.  This year, however, ALL THREE kids lost their water wings!  They all swim well without help now!  Sometimes they wear them for security in the deep end, but they are doing great!  We spent quite a bit of time this summer swimming in friends' pools.

 

 

What's New?

It's been a few months.  Here's what's new around here...

• We went to Maranatha.
• School has started... Trey is in 2nd grade, Audrey is in 1st grade, and Belle is in PreK at their school.
• Belle and Audrey are both in gymnastics, and Trey takes piano.
• We have just about completed our total backyard makeover.
• I am volunteering at the kids' school in many facets, as well as at the school's thrift store.
• Audrey is about to lose her bottom 2 teeth.  The permanent teeth are growing right up behind them.  Trey is 7 3/4 and still hasn't lost a tooth!
